In summary, To Read Milwaukee Words is a love letter to books, to a community of readers, to passionate education sponsors, to Milwaukeean neighborhoods, and to all services provided by a library. This essay in verse is an accumulation of my borrowing from libraries. Collections of spines may not be one’s first idea of using a library, but it has served as the backbone—the spine—to this collection of poetry. I am indebted to the community of libraries; my poems are gratitude.
